The 2025 UKC season kicked off at Whilton Mill, and Alfie Mair arrived hungry to make an impression. Representing SFR Motorsport and running with RPM Engines, the weekend was full of drama, recovery, and serious determination.

Qualifying Drama: A Red Flag and a Written-Off Kart

Alfie started strong in qualifying and secured a solid 4th place before the session was red flagged. Unfortunately, the red flag came as a result of an incident that Alfie was involved in — a full-speed collision with another kart.

Although Alfie was quickly medically cleared, his kart wasn’t so lucky. It was a complete write-off.The mission was clear: get Alfie back out on track for Heat 1.

Heat 1: Mechanical Issues End the Charge

Thanks to incredible effort from the mechanics under the SFR awning, a replacement kart was prepped in time for Heat 1. But disaster struck again. Just two laps from the end, a rear hub came loose, and a ruined tyre forced Alfie to retire from the race. Another blow, but not the end.

Heat 2 and Super Heat: Climbing from the Back

In Heat 2, Alfie spun on the outlap and had to chase the pack from the rear. Despite the setback, he clawed his way back to finish 16th. During the Super Heat, Alfie started from 24th and charged through the field. At one stage, he was up to 9th, but a short-lived power issue held him back. He crossed the line in 13th.

The Final: A Heroic Drive from P19 to P5

Starting 19th on the grid for the final, Alfie delivered a phenomenal drive. Lap after lap, he picked off his rivals with confidence and control. He eventually brought it home in 5th place — an incredible result after such a turbulent weekend.

After the race, Alfie said:
“I just didn’t have enough time on the clock.”

His resilience and raw pace set the tone for what promises to be an exciting UKC campaign in 2025.
