Turning setbacks into standout moments

Round 2 of the Ultimate Karting Championship took Alfie north to Larkhall, one of the most technically demanding tracks on the calendar. The weekend started with unpredictability in the practice sessions, but spirits were high heading into qualifying.

Unfortunately, a hired transponder failure meant Alfie’s qualifying times didn’t register, placing him P36. For many drivers, that would’ve set the tone for a frustrating weekend, but Alfie is no stranger to overcoming adversity. With trademark focus and a cool head, he lined up for Heat 1 with one goal — move forward.

Climbing the grid, one lap at a time

Heat 1 delivered one of the most memorable drives of the weekend. From the very back in P36, Alfie carved his way through the field with precision and bravery, crossing the line in P6. A phenomenal performance that reminded everyone watching just how much potential lies under that helmet.

Heat 2 brought more of the same, Alfie stormed through to P6 once again. However, a nosecone penalty and other post-race changes dropped him down to P23 on the final classification. Disappointing on paper, but the pace was evident.

Starting P11 for the Superheat, Alfie once again battled confidently, finishing P5 on track. A time penalty for track limits bumped him down to P12, but the performance continued to build momentum heading into the main event.

A changing track and a hard-earned trophy

The Final arrived with a sudden twist, rain. All drivers headed out on wet tyres, but as the laps wore on, the circuit began to dry. It created a complex challenge of tyre management and adaptability.

Starting from P12, Alfie read the conditions beautifully. He kept his lines clean, made decisive overtakes, and calmly climbed the order. Lap by lap, the gap to the front shrank, and when the chequered flag fell, Alfie had secured P2, a richly deserved podium finish.

Given another couple of laps, the win was genuinely within reach. But after a weekend that began with setbacks beyond his control, this result felt like a victory in every sense.

With RPM Engines power and support from SFR Motorsport, Alfie once again showed why he’s one of the rising stars of the UK karting scene.
