The Alfie Mair TVKC Challenge Cup weekend was a mix of highs and lows as he tackled the iconic PF International Circuit (PFI). As a pre-round event for the British O Plate, this race was a key opportunity to gain valuable track time against top competition at Trent Valley Kart Club (TVKC).

Located in Lincolnshire, PFI is the UK’s premier karting circuit, boasting a 1,382m track with a unique bridge, technical corners, and high-speed straights. This event is a warm-up for the British O Plate, a highly anticipated race that attracts some of the best karting talent in the country.

A Strong Start for Alfie Mair at TVKC

Alfie began the weekend with P6 in qualifying, securing a solid position for the heats. His competitive lap times showed he was ready to fight at the front.

Heat 1 – Solid Performance Maintains Momentum

In Heat 1, Alfie delivered a clean and controlled drive. He stayed consistent and finished in P5, keeping himself in the battle for the Final.

Heat 2 – A Costly Penalty Drops Alfie Down the Order

Alfie fought his way up to P3, demonstrating excellent racecraft. However, race officials handed him a five-second penalty for gaining an unfair advantage. This dropped him to P12, making the Final more challenging.

Final – A Podium Charge Ends in Frustration

Starting P8, Alfie made an explosive start, quickly climbing to P3. He was firmly in the fight with the leaders. Unfortunately, contact from another driver forced him off the track and onto the grass, pushing him down the order. He crossed the line in P25, a frustrating result after showing clear podium potential.

Despite this setback, Alfie’s performance at TVKC proved he has the pace to fight at the front. The weekend offered valuable experience, which he will carry into future races.

Looking Ahead – BNL Round 1 at Genk

There’s no time to dwell. Alfie and Nick now head to Belgium for Round 1 of the BNL Karting Series at Genk. Preparation starts Wednesday, and their focus is on making a strong start to the championship.
